Notes:

This tank was originally setup in November of 1996 and has gone through a few  changes since then.  I'm mainly keeping sword plant species in this tank now.  I'm also noticing that the sword plants are very 'greedy' for nutrients and I insert calcium carbonate pills into the root area when I notice the new leaves emerging in a distorted way.  (as much fertilizers as I add to this tank, there is not an excessive algea problem!)  The remaining tankmates are the same as when I started this tank. I'm using a Perfecto hood which holds two 36" double bright light strips for Normal Output fluorescent light tubes and I've had one of the light strips retrofitted with a compact fluorescent from AH Supply.  Unlike many new tanks, this tank does not have a center brace on the frames.  I just use a single 250 watt Ebo Jager submersible heater.  Khuli loaches are in this tank because they can get into the tight areas between and beneath the pygmy chain swords that the other fish cannot reach.  The current red spotted green discus I have in here are from Alberto Barboza of Aquatechnics.net  The echinodorus ozelot 'nova', uruguayensis 'red', Echinodorus x barthii, veronica, and tenellus all came from Neil Frank.
