Hans has recently moved to the USA to distribute the "Stendker" Discus
over here in America. Quoting his website: "Stendker has the largest
Discus hatchery in Europe, and is for almost 35 years very respected
for his high quality fish"
. I had seen some of the Stendker fish that other
people own, so I contacted Hans to schedule a visit while I was in the
Washington DC/ Baltimore area. Hans was really nice and has a great
sense of humor. The Stendker adults have a very nice shape and large
bodies. Hans' full name is Hans Koops van't Jagt, but he just goes
by Hans. On this visit, I used a flash to take the photos.

(click on the small photos below for an enlarged view - note that the enlarged view
will be in a new window; close the new window first before proceeding to the next
small photo, or else the new window will be hidden from view.)

Hans Santarem

The photo on the left is of Hans in front of some tanks of juvenile discus.
On the right is a photo of one of the santarem discus - they had a very
nice reddish brown coloring.

Turquoise Turquoise

On the left are brilliant turquoise and on the right are large red turquoise discus.

Turquoise Colbalt #1

On the left are more red turquoise (with a blue diamond in the back right)
and on the right are solid colbalts in the center of the tank.

Colbalt #2 Colbalt #3

The first picture has solid colbalts in a group of red turquoise discus, while
the photo on the right has solid colbalts with blue diamonds.

Red Pigeon Blood Blue Pigeon Blood

On the left are large red pigeon bloods and on the left are large blue pigeon
bloods. All of the adults that Hans has are quite large.

Juveniles Alenquer

Tank of various juveniles for sale while the big and pretty fish
on the right side is an Alenquer.

Snakeskin #1 Snakeskin #2

These are the solid X snake skin surrounded by other fish (including
other snakeskins) - the fish has a high forehead and body.
The camera flash
washed out the colors and made it look green
(they are a blue color in real life) .

Snakeskin #3 Snakeskin #4

These some more of the snakeskin (with some solid X snakeskins).
Again, the camera flash washed out the colors somewhat, but in the
photo on the right, you can see a bit of the blue coloring.

Unless specified, these photos were taken by Walter Wu and these are not for public distribution
(ie. posted on other websites) without permission.
