I've been to Peter Thode's Gwynnbrook Farms three times, most
recently 2004.  Peter is still very nice and accommodating; and
he still loves to talk about discus - even though I haven't bought
any fish from him (I'm never there on my way back here, so I
don't want to risk losing the fish!) It's nice to see what new
strains he has. On this visit, I used a flash to take the photos.

(click on the small photos below for an enlarged view - note that the enlarged view
will be in a new window; close the new window first before proceeding to the next
small photo, or else the new window will be hidden from view.)

Peter Thode Snake skin

The photo on the left is of Mr. Thode. Unfortunately, because he heats up
his entire fish room, my camera lens got foggy, so that's why there's a
haze on his face. Don't let that fool you - Peter's always been really nice
to me! On the right, is a photo of one of his red snake skin discus.

Ghost Leopard skin

The photos on the left are of Peter's ghost discus.  On the right is one of
his leopard skin discus. Peter uses a centralized filtration system and
you'll see the PVC pipes in several of the photos.

Red Diamond Blue Diamond #1

The fish on the left is a red diamond (red turquoise crossed with a red
spotted green). The fish on the right are some of Peter's blue diamonds .

Blue Diamond #2 Blue Diamond #3

More blue diamonds. Nice blue diamonds show no stress bars, are of
a single, uniform blue color (no red nor dark blue in the fins), and
have red eyes. They were originally developed in East Asia in
Hong Kong and Malaysia.

Turquoise pair Brilliant Turquoise pair

I noticed the fish on the left had a high forehead/ tall body. They looked
more blue in coloring (the flash washed out the colors). The brilliant
turquoise pair on right were still tending to some eggs.

Scribble #1 Scribble #2

These are a couple photos of a strain which Peter originally picked up
from Singapore. They are called "scribble". Peter has some juveniles
and showed me the scribble and ring patterns forming on them.

White Snowflake #1 White Snowflake #2

These are Peter's Snowflake White discus. The adults on the left and
juveniles on the right.

Altum Angelfish #1 altum Angelfish #2

Okay, these are NOT discus, but they are some F4 altum angelfish bred
by Horst Linke. Peter has some adults and many juveniles. For more
information about these F4 altum angelfish, check out the section on
Gwynnbrook Farm's website.

Unless specified, these photos were taken by Walter Wu and these are not for public distribution
