Breeding Information

Breeding angelfish is not really that hard.  Some people make it out to be harder then it really is.

Getting a Breeding pair

One of the hardest parts of breeding angelfish is getting a breeding pair.  This can be done in a couple of different ways.

Method #1

The first method and probably the best method would be to buy 6 to 8 juvenile angels.  As these angels grow they will normally pair off and may even spawn while with the other angels.  When you notice a pair forming you should remove these 2 angels and place them in their own 20gal tank.  Make sure you put some sort of slate, or broad leafed plant with them to spawn on.  Wa La you have a breeding pair.

Method #2

A second method is to buy a known breeding pair.  This can be costly as most breeding pairs sell for at least $60 - $80.  I got lucky and somewhat went this way, but I didn't have to pay for my pair, my father in law gave me mine (I guess I just got lucky).  Sometimes you can get a pair that has been worn out.  Just because a pair bred for one person does not guarantee that they will breed for you, so WATCH OUT.

Method #3

The third method is as follows.  You take a known male, put it with a known female, give it some time and Wa La you have a pair.
