Brine shrimp Hatchery Building a brine shrimp hatchery is very easy. I use 2 liter bottles. I take them and I turn them upside down and cut off the bottom. Then I drill a hole in the cap and put a piece of rigid airline tubing in the hole. After inserting that it will need to be secured in some way. I use hotglue, it seems to work well. After you have that part built you will need to take another 2 liter bottle and cut the top off of it. Slip the first bottle into the second and WALA you have a brine shrimp hatchery. To hatch brine shrimp, the first ingredient you need is brine shrimp. You can pick this up in various places. I buy mine from brineshrimpdirect. You can get various grades of eggs from them. My recommendation is to buy the best that you can afford. Next you need to hook your brine shrimp hatchery up to an air pump. Then add approximately 1 liter of water to the hatchery. Then add 1 tbs of salt, this needs to be non-iodized salt. You can use some stuff you buy in the grocery store, just make sure it says non-iodized. After you have added the water and the salt, add the brine shrimp eggs. You will then need to keep a light near the hatchery. In 24 hours you should have brine shrimp. That is the normal hatching period, but you can find brine shrimp that hatches in less than that so look at your own package. Only hatch what you need because baby brine shrimp loses its nutritional value quickly. If you can't use all the brine shrimp that you have hatched, you can put them in a container and put them in the fridge. They will keep a little longer in the fridge. My BrineShrimp Hatchery
